‘Electra’, in a version by Irma Correa, will premiere on November the 6th, 7th and 8th as part of the ‘Gald\u00f3s in the Espa\u00f1ol’ series.<\/p>\n

“Gald\u00f3s recreates brave, intelligent, hard-working, audacious, ingenious, erudite, modern, self-sacrificing women”. The enumeration is by Pilar Valenciano, coordinator of ‘Gald\u00f3s in the Espa\u00f1ol’, a cycle of seven staged readings (its form is a hybrid between a staging and a dramatized reading) based on the titles that the Canarian writer premiered at the Madrid Coliseum. A theatre of which he was, let us not forget, artistic director for the 1912-1913 season. This is an initiative framed in its centenary with which the City Council of Madrid has turned. In fact, it coincides with the ‘Gald\u00f3s Landing’ orchestrated by Laila Ripoll at the Teatro Fern\u00e1n-G\u00f3mez.<\/p>\n

The performances, all put together by female duos, start this Tuesday with ‘Will’. The play is written by Mar\u00eda Prado and directed by Carolina Rom\u00e1n. In the coming weeks also being shown will be: ‘Electra’ (Irma Correa\/Ester Bellver), ‘Grandfather’ (Sandra Ferr\u00fas\/Rosario Ruiz), ‘Casandra’ (Blanca Balt\u00e9s\/Aitana Gal\u00e1n) and ‘Celia in Hell’ (Eva Redondo\/Vanessa Mart\u00ednez). A common denominator threads together all these pieces which have barely been assembled on our stages. Valenciano says: “Their female characters strive to assert qualities (almost always brilliantly) that are not taken advantage of in the social and family spheres”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
